What Is Central Gas?
LPG storage in bulk, usually in underground LPG storage tanks that generally range in size from 4 to 10 tonnes.
The vapor space of the underground tank is connected to gas regulators and safety devices that reduce the tank pressure as required by heating applications. The only visible part of the underground tank is a manhole cover for access to the tank connections, the level gauge and the filling point. Vaporizers are also installed with the tank to maximize LPG flow.
LPG is delivered to underground tanks using a LPG Bobtail, which is a small tanker truck with a dispensing system that includes pumping and metering capabilities. LPG bobtails can discharge partial loads into smaller bulk storage tanks.
Offers all the benefits of piped natural gas and is the best energy solution for consumers without access to natural gas networks.
Supports more demanding energy applications than LPG cylinders improving the efficiency and competitiveness of industry.
Makes clean-energy conversions from more polluting fuels convenient and economically justified.
LPG Central Gas distribution was first developed in the United States during the 1950s.

What Are the Benefits Of Central Gas?

Safety
Compliance with World-Class standards for LPG transport, storage and use.
LPG is stored in tanks located outside and delivered to appliances through piping.
Safety equipment includes certified bobtails, tanks, valves, regulators, and gas detectors.
Installations regularly inspected by trained technicians.

Convenience
No need to handle cylinders.
Delivery and service personnel do not need to enter operating facilities.
Customer service available by telephone.
Remote tank monitoring available.

Reliability
Professionally trained technicians available 24/7.
Improved operation or burners, boilers and other applications.
LPG storage and supply can be sized to match current and/or projected demand.
Avoid damaging metal particles in poorly handled cylinders.

Cost Saving
Up to 50% fuel cost savings for customers converting to LPG from HSD and FO.
Up to 20% fuel cost savings for customers converting from LPG cylinders.
Payment for actual metered consumption rather than by cylinder.
Economies of scale can be realized.
Lower fuel delivery costs with LPG bobtails.
Reduced appliance maintenance costs.
Benefits Of Converting To Central Gas

From high carbon fuels such as FO and HSD
Significant fuel cost savings
No fuel heating costs in winter
Adulteration and pilferage not possible
Cleaner work environment
Significant carbon reduction
From LPG cylinders
Dozens of manifolded LPG cylinders can be replaced with one LPG bulk tank.
Cost savings
Improved operations
Many industrial companies choose cylinders because they are readily available with minimal regulations and require minimal installation knowhow and infrastructure. However, cylinders are very inefficient, less safe and inconvenient as cylinders have to be manually handled and routinely exchanged. There is an incident risk when changing cylinders and reintroducing LPG into a fuel system. 10% or more of LPG cannot be extracted from cylinders, especially in colder conditions. The higher costs of packing and transporting LPG in cylinders often approaches the cost of the LPG itself.
